How to use the generator

Pick what you need — paragraphs, sentences or words — set a count from 1 to 100 and click Generate. Each click produces fresh text, so you can regenerate until the rhythm of line lengths looks right for your layout. Copy puts the plain text on your clipboard with paragraphs separated by blank lines, ready to paste into Figma, Canva, Word, a CMS or an HTML file.

Leaving Start with “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” ticked makes the first sentence begin with the traditional opening, which most designers and clients recognise instantly as placeholder text. Untick it for fully random text, for example when you want several independent blocks that do not all begin the same way.

What you get

• Paragraphs: each has 3–6 sentences, giving a realistic mix of short and long blocks.
• Sentences: 6–14 words each, with an occasional comma so line breaks fall naturally.
• Words: a flat run of words with no punctuation, useful for testing single-line elements such as buttons, tags and table cells.

Words are drawn from a list of about 170 classical Latin-looking terms using the browser’s cryptographic random number generator, so the output is not predictable and there is no repeating pattern across generations.

Why designers still use lorem ipsum

Placeholder text has roughly the same distribution of word lengths and letter shapes as English, so it gives an honest impression of how a real paragraph will look — how many lines it wraps to, how the column width feels, whether the font size is readable — without anyone stopping to read it. Using real content too early often derails a review into copy edits before the layout has been agreed.

When not to use it

• Final QA and accessibility testing. Screen readers pronounce lorem ipsum awkwardly, and testers cannot judge whether headings make sense. Switch to realistic copy before user testing.
• Length-sensitive UI. Latin words average 6–7 letters, slightly longer than English and much longer than Hindi words written in Devanagari, so a card that fits lorem ipsum may overflow with real text in another language. Test with the longest real string you expect, such as a full Indian name or address.
• Anything that ships. Search for “lorem” before publishing a site or sending a document; leftover placeholder text is one of the most common launch embarrassments.

Tips

• Generate more than you need and delete the surplus; it is faster than regenerating to hit an exact length.
• To fill a table, generate words and paste one word per cell, or generate sentences and split them by full stop.
